What is Maundy Thursday? Maundy comes from the Latin word mandatum, which means command or mandate. It is a time to remember when Jesus washed the disciples feet and gave them a new commandment. He said, A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. ( John 13:34). He did this prior to going into the garden and praying before being arrested and crucified. This will be in lieu of our Good Friday service so we will remember what the Lord did for us and have a time of communion. Why not have a Good Friday service? The church we lease from has a rehearsal on Friday evening, and we wanted to make the parking more accessible for all of you, so we switched our Good Friday to Maundy Thursday.
